Course Description
This is a flexible, student-centered course designed for learners who want to pursue a self-guided project, develop a custom learning path, or work collaboratively as a team to explore embedded systems, electronics, or physical computing. Whether you're passionate about building a wearable device, designing an interactive art installation, prototyping a scientific instrument, or just diving deeper into embedded systems, this course adapts to your unique goals and interests. Students will receive customized guidance and instruction tailored to the design, fabrication, and programming needs of their individual projects. Mentors will support students in selecting appropriate hardware platforms, sensors, actuators, and other related components, defining learning objectives, and creating a structured development plan. The course supports both individual exploration and team-based initiatives, offering guidance on system design, circuit development, programming, documentation, and iterative testing. Along the way, students can deepen their understanding of topics like analog and digital signal processing, serial and I2C communication, sensor integration, actuator control, data visualization, and real-world debugging. Regular check-ins, expert feedback, and instructional workshops provide structure without limiting creative freedom. Whether you already have a project idea or just a curiosity to explore, this course helps you transform your interests into a working prototype.
